Impeach Bush Now!

A few days ago the following letter was sent U.S. Senators Durbin and Obama and to U.S. Rep. Roskam:

As citizens of the U.S. and constituents in the State of Illinois, we hereby demand that you draft and introduce, or support if introduced by another senator, articles of impeachment for George W. Bush, the charge being that as President of the United States he has utterly failed to uphold his oath to defend and support the Constitution of the United States.

The recent executive order requiring that federal agencies have, according to a New York Times report, “a regulatory policy office run by a political appointee, to supervise the development of rules and documents,” in other words, a White House hack whose job it is to make sure the agencies do what they’re told, was the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back. While by itself this action may seem relatively mild and within the purview of the president as the head of the executive branch, when seen in a larger context of a relentless abuse of power by this president over the last six years, it can be understood as yet one more act of a would-be despot trying to consolidate his power.

When will enough be enough with this president? When he orders a nuclear strike on Iran and plunges us into World War III? When he issues an executive order to suspend the Constitution in the name of national security? When he declares martial law and starts rounding up those who oppose him?
