Vote no on S. 1959

The Democrats in the U.S. Senate must not vote in favor of S.1959, the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act. Period! I cannot comprehend how anyone with even a modicum of respect for the United States Constitution could with any conscience vote for this utterly abhorrent bill.

Naively, I had thought that the FISA reauthorization bill, with its blanket immunity for telecoms, was about as hypocritical as George Bush and his Neocon cronies could get in terms of subverting the very freedoms we are supposedly fighting for in Iraq. But apparently Bush’s arrogance knows no bounds, and now he wants for all intents and purposes a blank check to “go after” anyone that disagrees with him. Do you really have any doubt that this is how he would choose to interpret this bill if it is passed?

Edmund Burke said it most eloquently: “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”
