Republicans, George Bush is your worst enemy

The New York Times today reported that Justice Department officials were surprised by the furor over the firing of several U.S. Attorneys.

I sit here and I am speechless… They were surprised? SURPRISED?

Are they that utterly stupid? I think not.

Rather, I think they are that totally arrogant. They were honestly surprised because they are so convinced of their self-importance that they couldn't consider that anyone would question them.

Day after day, an endless parade of headlines chronicling the utter hypocrisy and complete incompetence of George Bush and his party, defended with arrogance --- “I’m the decider” --- and meanness --- Swift boating. The botched the invasion of Iraq. The bungled response to Katrina. The Abu Ghraib fiasco. The Terri Schaivo debacle. The presidential signing documents that claim the president is above the law. Ordering “political officers” to be installed in federal agencies. The Walter Reed Hospital scandal. The Secretary of State literally embarrassing herself before the world by making up history to suit her purposes. And now the clearly politically motivated purge of U.S. Attorneys.

What the Republicans don’t seem to understand --- a result of their blind hubris --- is the rising tide of anger in the electorate. I can’t believe I’m the only one who feels this way.

Republicans, George Bush is your worst enemy. George Bush, with his utter disdain for anything except his own power, is going to guarantee Democratic control of both houses of Congress and of the Presidency for a generation. I've said it before, and I'm more convinced than ever of its truth: His arrogance --- your arrogance -- will bring you down!
